Spotlight: Lureia
Artist notes
Lureia she/her [been misspelling it since page 1]
Height: 5′-6″,
Age: 22-24ish, age uncertain since she was not born at a hospital so there are no records of her.
Appearance: Sun kiss skin tones. Lean. Her upper body is toned. If you ever give her a handshake you can feel how strong. No piercings. Very attached to her hair clip/tie that she took a jewel from her father’s things and combined it with clay. Detach earlobe, rare.
Hair has a golden shimmer in the forest sun, ending with white tips. Lureia’s natural hair color, never been medically enhanced, no one believes her though and are convince she is of society. Her hair is the most identifying characteristic of her, but blends in city crowds, since in this day an age, everyone can medically enhanced their hair and other features. Though, if you have money and the deep connections to The Family, there are rumors of miraculous medicine, you can even extend your life!
She’s a self-taught artist that creates pottery, paintings, woodcarving figurines and other other knickknacks she can find the resources for. She used to sell her creations in town every week, out of an art cart she built herself from a bike and an abandoned wagon. She named her business Kit-sun, a hidden tribute to the old stories of Kitsunes. “Pottery and art that brightens your day” was written on the wagon, and her go to phrase when she sold her work.
Grew up with her grandpa in this forest she calls home, called him Gran’pa. Lureia’s dad passed away at her birth and is seldomly spoken about to respect Gran’pa since that was his only kid. Lu had a strong relationship with her Gran’pa, but were very much in opposition when it came to health and pursuing a career. Gran’pa insisted the forest had magic that healed him, and how the rest of the family lived long, and why Lureia had to become a creator. Her family line has always been creative on this plot of land for generations and the homes they all built still stand. The land has been fully forgotten by the city she lives in, but it once was a public park that has been overlooked for surrounding it with medicine producing factories. Her gate on the sidewalk is the only entrance left that allows her to leave. But with the way she lives, she doesn’t need to leave as often.
Lureia’s life goal was to heal others as a surgeon, but a mysterious illness took over that halted her studies. Instead, she heals through her creations, magically her hands breath life into objects that have long been gone. But even that is slowing down.
Her sickness is very odd, has every doctor available to her unsure what it is, so therefore no cure. Or find a way to get a favor from The Family, the monarch of the medical industry. For now, the only solution they gave her to survive was self administering medicine through a port that has been surgically installed on her chest, on the right side.
Now she lives alone in her ancestor’s land with no idea whats going to happen to it after she dies.
Her earlier concepts from 2015 are so vastly different, but its cool to revisit and see the voyage she’s going through!
Onto chapter 2!
